1. What genre(s) do you write?
Contemporary romance and romantic suspense.

2. Coffee or tea lover?
Coffee in the morning! Tea later in the day.

3. Name one thing on your bucket list.
I’d love to do an inn-to-inn hike in Scotland.

4. Do you have pets?
We’ve had three wonderful, lively golden retrievers (Slugger, Bo and Lily) but don’t have any pets right now due to our travel schedule. We do love to say hi to sheep on our hikes in the Irish hills!
5. When I wake up every morning I... Tie on my running shoes!
 6. Weirdest or unique thing you own.
My penholders are pottery mugs my kids made for me when they were little. Definitely one of a kind! One can’t have too many pens in my world.
 7. Do you have any hobbies or particular skills?
My daughter and I are signed up to run our third half-marathon together in Vermont in June. I ran a half-marathon on my own in Ireland last September. I’ve always loved to hike but only started running a few years ago. Fell in love with it!
8. What do you hope readers will experience or gain when reading your stories?
I hope readers will come to the last page, look at the clock and realize they lost track of the time. ;-)
9. What inspired you to write The River House?
The “falling out” between Gabe and Felicity, friends since childhood, was the catalyst for this story. He thought he could tell her anything and was helping her at a tough time—but she didn’t see it that way! The story starts a few years later when Gabe returns to their small hometown. Can he and Felicity piece together their broken friendship, and will it turn into something more? I loved writing this book!

In this charming novel about the search for love, home and family, New York Times bestselling author Carla Neggers takes readers on a journey to an irresistible town they’ll want to return to over and over again

Felicity MacGregor loves organizing social events for others, but her own personal life is a different story. After a brief but failed attempt at a career as a financial analyst, she returned to her hometown, Knights Bridge, where she enjoys running a thriving party-planning business.

Then Felicity’s life gets a shake-up when her childhood friend Gabriel Flanagan returns unexpectedly to their tiny hometown in Massachusetts. Now a high-flying businessman, Gabe always vowed to get out of Knights Bridge, but he is back for the local entrepreneurial boot camp Felicity’s been hired to organize. Together again, they’ll finally have to face each other—and their complicated past.

Gabe and Felicity soon realize their reunion is stirring up long-buried emotions. While Gabe has big plans for his future, Felicity is discovering that hers doesn’t depend on fate—she must choose what’s right for her. But if they can find a bridge between their diverging paths, they might just discover that their enduring connection is what matters most.

  1. I love the mugs your kids made. I have small bowls like that that my kids made.

When you go past sheep, do you make baa-ing sounds? My family does that when we pass cows, horses, or sheep. The kids are all adults and they still do it!

  2. Thanks, Sue! I tried to respond earlier but messed up. The pen holders are sturdy! We love cows, horses and sheep -- my husband is more likely to baa and such than I am but I talk to them. :-) Happy spring!

  3. Do you have a favorite tea?

  4. Hi, Mary. I tend to favor plain black tea over flavored teas, but I keep an open mind. My go-to teas are English Breakfast and Irish Breakfast. For herbal tea, peppermint.

  5. That is an ambitious bucket list! Sounds beautiful! Do they have paths or groups who do that?? The roads we were on while there were so narrow, it would be terrifying to walk them. haha But it would be so wonderful to be able to just look all around all the time.
I love your mugs. What a fun way to make use of them!

  10. An inn to inn hike in Scotland sounds like a wonderful idea. It would be nice to do in Ireland and other countries too. I would certainly have to learn to pack much lighter if I tried something like that. I hope you get to do it soon.

    1. Packing light is a trick but at least they have people who transport bags while we hike! :-) Thanks, Patricia.
