Sarah Andre is a 2017 RITA® finalist, which is Romance Writers of America highest award of distinction. Sarah’s novels include: Capturing the Queen (2017), Tall, Dark and Damaged (2016) Locked, Loaded and Lying (2015), plus a short story in an anthology, From Florida with Love (2016.) She lives in serene Southwest FL with her husband and two naughty Pomeranian boys. When she’s not writing, Sarah is either reading novels, exercising to rude alternative rock music or coloring. Yes, you heard right. She’s all over those coloring books for adults.

2. Coffee or tea lover?
Coffee! Starbucks Verona K Cup to be exact. :)
3. Name one thing on your bucket list.
Is owning a house in Tuscany or on the French Riviera a bucket list item? I've lived an abundant life, but that's the only thing I want and don't have.
4. Do you have pets?
4 year old Pomeranian litter-mates. I call them: The Boyz.

5. When I wake up every morning I... Make my Verona coffee, sit in my beautiful lanai and write down all the things I'm grateful for in a journal. (And because I usually get up in the middle of the night I'm still there watching the sun rise.)
6. Weirdest or unique thing you own.
When my brother was an attache' at the US Embassy in Kabul he had this flag flown in our names on Sept 11th, 2013. Mailed it to me out of the blue. I tear up every time I look at it.
7. Do you have any hobbies or particular skills?
I really don't, but an addiction? I'm known far and wide for my over-the-top Halloween and Christmas decorating. We rent a huge storage unit strictly for my decorations. And as the holidays come around each year, I uh...can't stop buying... :(
8. What do you hope readers will experience or gain when reading your stories?
My tagline is: Romantic Suspense That Keeps You Up All Night, and that's my #1 goal: you not being able to put my novel down and sleep!
9. What inspired you to write Tall, Dark & Damaged?
I was inspired to write Tall Dark & Damaged for 2 reasons- one because I loved reading Victoria Holt as a teen and thought: "I want to write a gothic romantic suspense like that." And two- because my childhood memories of my grandparents huge house on a cliff on Lake Michigan are so special to me that I used that as the gothic setting. Naturally a lot of plot stuff that happens in the house is therefore real. If my debut was the novel of my dreams, for sure Tall, Dark and Damaged was the novel of my heart. |

DeleteI may have an addiction to Christmas decorations too. We go all out, inside and out. I even started decorating the backyard since at night we sit in the back of the house!

I loved this interview. Especially the pic of The Boyz. Before my divorce, I was seriously into Christmas. I put up seven Christmas trees, plus a whole lot of other decorations. Had a party every year. When I divorced, I gave half to the ex. When I moved I got rid of another half, leaving me with a quarter of the original, which takes up a space about 8x8x8 feet, at least. And I now live in a house pretty much too small for a tree! I do have to move out some furniture one year and put up my Victorian tree again, though. It is absolutely gorgeous. The tree topper is a seriously gorgeous, ruby, cut crystal Waterford topper. I would love to see your decorations. All mine are singles (only one, no ornament repeats). Some trees are beautiful, some are just crazy fun. And I do still BUY ornaments on occasion. It's a disease. Or should be. Christmas Ornament Syndrome.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's the word. Disease, LOL! (But I am such a queen of this disease.) Oh Sheri! I would LOVE to see a pic of your Waterford topper! I have many pics of my decorations over the years- after I married (20 years ago) we redecorated his bachelor pad house and when it was finished near Christmas I asked the designer to coordinate the decorations in the same color theme too, so these are lush, beautiful keepsakes with a 'jester' theme. If you've ever heard of Katherine's Collection- they do a new theme for their decorations every few years. Thanks for sharing!!
