Author #10: Get to know a little more about today's featured author, the delightful Priscilla Oliveras
Books by Priscilla Oliveras
PRISCILLA OLIVERAS writes sweet contemporary romance with a Latinx flavor. Proud of her Puerto Rican-Mexican heritage, she strives to bring authenticity to her novels by sharing her Latinx culture with readers. Her debut release, His Perfect Partner, and the second book in her Matched to Perfection series, Her Perfect Affair, both earned Starred Reviews from Publishers Weekly and Booklist. Since earning
an MFA in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University, she serves as English adjunct faculty at her local college and teaches an on-line course titled “Romance Writing” for ed2go. Priscilla is a sports fan, a beach lover, a half-marathon runner and a consummate traveler who often practices the art of napping in her backyard hammock. To follow along on her fun-filled and hectic life, visit her on the web at http://prisoliveras.com/, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/prisoliveras or on Twitter via @prisoliveras.

Enjoy this Q&A with Priscilla Oliveras:

1. What genre(s) do you write?
I write contemporary romance with a Latinx flavor.

2. Coffee or tea lover?
Ooh, I’m a café con leche, skinny French vanilla latte or hot chocolate with marshmallows kind of chica.

3. Name one thing on your bucket list. I definitely plan to spend some quality time in Italy—Rome, Tuscany, Florence—some day!

 4. Do you have pets?
Yes! I have a wonderfully friendly, cuddly goldendoodle named Addi who’s the perfect writing buddy.

  5. When I wake up every morning I... Check email and social media while still cozy in bed. Once I’m up and moving, the first thing I usually do in the kitchen is turn on my Keurig machine.

6. Weirdest or unique thing you own.
Wow, great question! I’d like to think this item is more unique than weird, but an interesting and favorite travel memento a family member once brought from Rome for me is a Pope John Paul II bobblehead doll. Um, no, that’s not a typo. And yes, I do own—proudly—a bobblehead of the beloved pope. ☺

 7. Do you have any hobbies or particular skills?
Well, I’m a really good hammock napper, does that count? ;-) Seriously, hammock naps are a nice part of my self-care. In my free time, I enjoy cheering on my favorite sports teams—Go Gators! Go Cubs!—and salsa dancing. As for a particular skill… around the Christmas holidays, my daughters and I have been building gingerbread houses, buildings, sports stadiums and even the London Bridge for years!

8. What do you hope readers will experience or gain when reading your stories?
I sincerely hope readers feel a sense of familia with my characters, appreciate the influence of the Latinx culture, and find joy in the power of healthy relationships and love.

9. What inspired you to write His Perfect Partner?
Yazmine is the first character who danced into my imagination from the MATCHED TO PERFECTION series. There was something about her aura of confidence that drew me. And yet, the closer I looked, I caught the tiny crack in her façade. Or, maybe it’s that she decided to share it with me. Allowed me to see her as she truly was when the book started—a beautifully talented dancer at a crossroads in her life. Torn between the life she, along with her familia and friends, had always envisioned for herself and the desire to be closer to her loved ones. She was convinced that she couldn’t have both, a job she loved and a family life, but then Tomás and his precious daughter Maria arrived in her dance studio.

Tomás…ay Dios mío, how could I not fall in love with Tomás Garcia? Strong, successful, sexily gorgeous, afraid to trust in love, adoring father, compassionate friend. ~~be still my heart~~

Writing HIS PERFECT PARTNER was a labor of love. The entire Fernandez familia—Yazmine, her sisters Rosa and Lilí, and their papi—completely stole my heart. The more time I spent with them all, the more I knew I had to tell the stories of all three sisters. Thankfully, Kensington agreed.

To all Lorelei’s Lit Lair fans, I wish you many hours of happy reading. Should you choose to spend some time with Yazmine and Tomás, or Rosa and Jeremy, or (this December) Lilí and Diego, I hope you fall in love with them as much as I have.

Three very different Latina sisters. Three dazzling talents with ambition—and passion—to burn. And in this warm-hearted, sexy new series, three chances to figure out if the path to success can also lead to lasting love . . .

Ad executive Tomás Garcia shouldn't even be thinking about his daughter’s alluring dance teacher, Yazmine Fernandez. Burned by a shattering divorce, he's laser-focused on his career—and giving his young daughter, Maria, the secure home she deserves. Plus, he's certain that with her talent, Yaz will be leaving Chicago and heading back to Broadway as soon as she can. But Yaz's generous spirit and caring concern are sparking a desire Tomás can't resist—and doesn't want to let go . . .

For Yaz, good-looking workaholics like Tomás simply can't be part of her life ever again. She owes it to herself to get back her confidence and fulfill the dreams her papá could not. She's glad to spend time with Maria—and taste the family life she feels she can never have. And she’s sure that she and Tomás can keep their attraction under control because there's so much at stake. But each unexpected intimacy, each self-revelation, makes the fire between them grow hotter with every step—and every risk to their hearts . . .

  3. Sure wish I lived close enough to attend. I read one of Priscilla's books that she wrote for Tule. Very enjoyable. My brother-in-law is hispanic and my niece, who works in the dean's office of a university, is a big proponent of the Latinx movement. Especially on college campuses.

    1. Hi Eileen! It’s wonderdul to hear that you enjoyed Nate and Sofía’s story, Resort to Love!

The term Latinx, coined to be more inclusive of all identities, gained a lot of momentum thanks to college campuses. I’m sure the work your niece is doing is of great value!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ll check out His Perfect Partner and Her Perfect Affair when you have some time. I’d love for you to meet my Fernandez familia. :-)

      Best wishes to you!
      Priscilla
